Description
The Fort Smith Police Department maintains a fleet of just over 200 vehicles, with the majority of the fleet being Marked Patrol Cars. The workhorses of the fleet are the 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility, the 2014 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor, and the 2009-2011 Ford Crown Victoria. The Ford Crown Victoria's have been in the fleet the longest, with a majority of them being replaced by Ford Police Interceptor Utility's, and Dodge Charger PPV's. These three models serve as the Regular Patrol Vehicles. The department also maintains about twenty 2015 Dodge Charger PPV Stealth Cars, that are used for Traffic Enforcement, and Five 2016 Ford F-150 Stealth Trucks, used for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. All of the department's K-9 vehicles, which where formerly 2006-2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors, have been replaced with 2014 Ford Taurus Police Interceptors. The 2015 Ford F-550 is used as a regular patrol car for SWAT Officers, and to tow the department's boat trailers. Traffic Enforcement uses both the 2010 Chevy Tahoe PPV, and the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Light Wrecker. The Wrecker can be used as a regular patrol unit, but it is typically only used for towing vehicles.
